As a Sales & Marketing Manager, you will lead the commercial strategy within a defined therapeutic area, drive brand planning for dedicated products, and execute integrated marketing and sales activities that deliver measurable impact. This role owns the end-to-end brand plan, translates strategy into action, and ensures flawless execution through close collaboration across Sales, Medical, Access, and Supply.
About the role
You will be accountable for building and executing the brand strategy and commercial tactics for assigned products, grounded deep therapeutic area knowledge and robust market insights. You will manage sales performance across regions, coach and develop the sales team in line with company standards and orchestrate cross-functional inputs to accelerate growth while upholding AstraZeneca’s high standards of ethics, compliance, and patient safety.
Key Responsibilities
- Team leadership & coaching: Recruit, train, coach, and develop the Sales team; embed AZ standards and a performance mindset.
- Sales performance management: Set targets, regularly monitor regional performance, and course-correct using data-driven insights.
- Commercial delivery: Achieve agreed sales, marketing, and cost targets; phase Direct Marketing budgets and ensure Enigma validation.
- Segmentation and targeting: Lead customer segmentation, targeting, and monitoring to optimize reach and impact.
- Brand strategy & plan: Create and manage marketing product strategy based on deep TA/product knowledge and relevant clinical evidence; consolidate sales, access, and medical inputs to build the Brand Plan with clear drivers and tactics.
- Operating plan & budgeting: Develop the Business Operating Plan, including phased marketing budgets aligned to brand activities.
- Campaigns & materials: Prepare brand campaigns and promotional materials in line with AZ promotional standards and SOPs; drive effective product promotion.
- Training & events: Partner with Medical to plan and manage internal training and external promotional events.
- Performance forums: Lead regular Brand meetings to track KPIs, run situation analyses, and use market data/models to optimize strategies.
- External engagement: Build trusted relationships with Key External Experts within the TA; demonstrate strong knowledge of guidelines, centers of care, diagnostic landscape, patient flow, and payer/policy insights.
- Supply coordination: Plan product orders with Logistics to ensure uninterrupted availability.
- Compliance & safety: Uphold AZ Code of Conduct and company values; comply with EU/national legislation, EFPIA and AIFP Codes; act per AZ SHE standards. Report safety information within 24 hours per pharmacovigilance requirements and escalate suspected defects/counterfeits promptly.
Your profile
- Essential
- Product management experience with deep product and disease knowledge in the assigned TA and dedicated product.
- Strong understanding of pharma business and AZ’s value proposition for diverse customers and stakeholders.
- Customer engagement capability to tailor value propositions to individual needs (clinical efficacy, testing, access solutions).
- Marketing planning expertise across forecasting, budgeting, market research, and cross-functional teamwork.
- Fluency in English (written and oral) and a valid driving license.
- Desirable
- Therapy area knowledge and 3+ years in marketing for senior-level consideration.
- Coaching and mentoring skills for senior-level consideration.
